This live camera looks out over St Paul, the largest of the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea, far off the Alaska mainland. It is a useful way to check the conditions on this remote windswept island before deciding whether to plan a trip or simply to see what the sea and sky look like right now.
St Paul sits in the middle of the Bering Sea, roughly 300 kilometres from the Alaska Peninsula. The island is known for its treeless tundra, dramatic coastal cliffs and large seabird colonies, and for its long history as a fur seal and fishing base. The landscape is low, open and shaped constantly by wind and fog, which gives it a stark and unusual character compared with most places in the United States.
Because the island is so exposed, the view changes quickly with the weather: shifting cloud, fog banks rolling in off the water and waves breaking on the shore. Clear spells are most worth catching, and the low sun of early morning and evening brings out the texture of the tundra. The camera is best viewed as a live window on the weather rather than a fixed scene, so check it at different times of day.
The Pribilof Islands have a cold maritime climate with cool summers, mild-to-cold winters and persistent wind year round. Summer is generally the easiest season to reach the islands, while winter brings rough seas and limited travel. The live weather and local time on this page will help you judge conditions. This camera is the only one currently listed for the island.

The current conditions and a 3-day forecast are shown in the live weather block on this page. The island is very windy and often foggy, so the values there are worth checking before you watch the stream.
The local time is displayed on this page in the live time block. The island keeps Alaska time, which differs from the time in most of the continental United States.
The camera is located on St Paul Island, the largest of the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea, about 300 kilometres off the Alaska Peninsula. The map on this page shows its position.
Clear weather and the low sun of early morning or evening usually make the view most interesting. Because conditions change quickly on the island, watching at different times of day gives the best impression.
