Zugspitze - Téléphérique - vue sur le sommet depuis l'ouest
🇩🇪 Bavaria · Germany — Altitude 2970 m
This live camera looks at the summit of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain, from the cable car area on its western side. It is useful if you want to check whether the peak is clear of cloud before planning a trip or a day on the slopes.
The Zugspitze rises to about 2,962 metres in the Wetterstein range on the border between Bavaria and Tyrol. It is best known as Germany's highest point and as a major base for winter sports, with a glacier and ski terrain that stay open much of the year. Its summit is often wrapped in cloud, which makes a live view particularly handy. The surrounding limestone peaks and deep valleys give the area a dramatic, alpine character that changes quickly with the weather.
The camera is positioned at the cable car station area and points toward the summit, so the picture mainly reflects the mountain's upper section and how much of it is visible. Depending on the view, you may see snow cover, cloud movement and sunlight on the rock faces. Clear mornings tend to offer the most stable views, while afternoon clouds often build up over the peak. Winter and early spring are typically the most interesting periods for snow conditions.
The Zugspitze has a cool, changeable mountain climate, and temperatures at the top are well below those in the valleys, so warm layers are essential even in summer. The summit can be reached by cable car from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen side or by the Ehrwald cable car from Austria. Other cameras in the same area include the Ehrwald mountain station and a FlyingCam view, which can help you compare conditions on the two sides of the massif.
