Val d'Isère - Front de neige
🇫🇷 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes · France — Altitude 1850 m
This live view looks over the snowfield at the front of Val d'Isère, one of the best-known ski resorts in the French Alps. It is useful for checking how much snow has settled, whether the lifts are running and what the sky is doing before you set off up the mountain.
Val d'Isère sits at about 1850 metres in the Tarentaise valley of Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The village is closely linked with the Espace Killy ski area, which it shares with Tignes, and is known for steep runs, long descents and a lively resort atmosphere. Its traditional stone and timber houses give the centre a mountain character that contrasts with the modern lifts above it.
The camera is most useful in the morning, when fresh snow and the first skiers appear on the slopes, and in the late afternoon when light softens over the peaks. Weather changes quickly at this altitude, so the view can shift from clear to cloudy within an hour. Winter is the main season, and busy periods around school holidays show the resort at its fullest.
The main ski season runs roughly from December to April, with snow most reliable in January and February. Expect cold temperatures at altitude even on sunny days, and sudden wind in exposed areas. Nearby cameras cover the old village, the Bellevarde slopes and the Tignes lakes, which helps you compare conditions across the area before you travel.
