🇫🇷 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes · France — Altitude 1900 m
This live camera looks across the Sétaz and Thymel areas above Valloire, a mountain village in the Maurienne valley of the French Alps. It is useful for seeing how the snow, cloud and light look on the slopes right now. The page adds local time and a three-day forecast so you can plan a visit with the conditions in front of you.
Valloire sits at about 1,900 metres in the Maurienne valley, in the Savoie part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is best known as a winter sports resort linked to the wider Galibier and Maurienne ski area, and in summer as a base for mountain walking and cycling. The surroundings are steep alpine meadows, larch and pine forest and high rocky ridges, which give the village a quiet, open feel in every season.
The camera is a view over mountain terrain, so the picture changes mostly with weather and snow cover. Clear mornings give the sharpest view of the ridges, while afternoon cloud often builds over the peaks in summer. In winter the slopes are most interesting after fresh snowfall, and in late spring the lower meadows start to green as the snow line retreats. Expect the view to be affected by mist or low cloud at times.
Winter is the main season for visitors, with skiing from December into spring, while summer suits hiking and cycling from June to September. Because of the altitude, mornings can be cold even in summer, so pack layers. Nearby cameras on VizCams include Les Karellis, about 9 km away, and Saint-Sorlin d'Arves, about 17 km away, which show other parts of the same mountain area.
