This live camera looks out over Cabarete, a small beach town on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Check it to see how the sea and sky look right now before you head out, or to follow conditions from abroad.
Cabarete sits in Puerto Plata province on the Atlantic coast, a short drive east of the city of Puerto Plata. It is best known as a centre for windsurfing and kitesurfing, thanks to steady trade winds and a long, sandy bay. The town mixes beach bars, yoga studios and small hotels with a relaxed, outdoorsy atmosphere that draws visitors from many countries.
The view is most useful during daylight, when you can judge wave height, wind strength and how busy the beach is. Depending on the angle at the time, you may see surfers and kiteboarders on the water, or a quieter shoreline in the early morning. Cloud build-up in the afternoon is common here, so the picture can change quickly.
Cabarete is warm all year, with average temperatures around 27 Β°C. The rainiest months are usually May and November, while the winter months from December to April are generally drier and popular with visitors. The town is compact and walkable, and nearby Puerto Plata has the closest airport, roughly 30 minutes away by road.
