Feldkopf - Vallée de Wangenitz - vue sur le lac de Wangenitz vers l'est
🇦🇹 Tyrol · Austria — Altitude 2717 m
This camera looks east across Lake Wangenitz in the high Wangenitz Valley of East Tyrol, at about 2,700 metres. It is a useful window onto a remote alpine lake, its shoreline and the weather moving over the mountains. The live player is embedded from the source, and the local weather and time sit right below it.
The Wangenitz Valley lies in the Hohe Tauern range, one of the wilder parts of Tyrol, and is reached by a narrow road from the Virgen side. Lake Wangenitz is a small mountain lake surrounded by steep slopes, scree and high pastures. The landscape is shaped by glaciers and long winters, and it feels quiet and remote compared with the valley towns further down the Isel river.
The camera title names the lake and the view towards the east, so the picture is centred on the water and the terrain beyond it. The scene changes most with light and cloud: morning sun can light the eastern slopes, while afternoon clouds often build over the peaks. Snow lingers well into early summer at this altitude, so the lake and surroundings look very different across the seasons.
Summer, from roughly June to September, is the main period when the high valley is open and accessible on foot, and temperatures can still be cool even then. Weather changes quickly at this height, so check the live forecast on this page before planning a walk. Nearby cameras include the western view over the Glödis and Hochschober, and the Lienz Zettersfeld views to the south.
