Mallnitz - Auernig - vue vers le nord-ouest
🇦🇹 Carinthia · Austria — Altitude 2100 m
This camera looks northwest from the Auernig area above Mallnitz in the Carinthian Alps. It is useful for checking how the high ridges look and whether cloud or snow is sitting on the peaks. The live stream is embedded below, with local time and a three-day forecast alongside.
Mallnitz sits in the upper Mölltal valley at roughly 1,200 metres, on the eastern side of the Hohe Tauern range. It is a small Alpine village known mainly as a base for hiking, ski touring and access to the high peaks, and the Tauern railway tunnel passes beneath the area. The surrounding terrain is steep, with rock faces, glacier-fed streams and forested slopes lower down. The camera's elevation of about 2,100 metres puts it well above the village, so the view takes in the higher ridges.
The view is mostly of mountain terrain, so the most interesting moments are often when cloud builds over the ridges in the afternoon or when fresh snow lights up the slopes after a front passes. Early morning is often clearer before convection develops, though this depends on the season and weather. Summer views tend to show green slopes and bare rock, while winter shows snow cover. Since the title names a viewpoint rather than a specific feature, check the live image for what is currently visible.
The area has a cool Alpine climate, with long snowy winters and short, mild summers. Hiking and mountain views are best from June to September, while skiing is typically from December to April. Mallnitz can be reached by road through the Mölltal, and the nearby Ankogel and Flattach cameras show other parts of the same mountain region. Mountain weather can change quickly, so check the forecast shown on this page before planning a trip.
