Flattach - Flattachberg - vue vers l'ouest
🇦🇹 Carinthia · Austria — Altitude 1260 m
This live camera looks west from the slopes above Flattach, a village in the Möll valley of Carinthia. It is a useful window onto the mountain weather of the Hohe Tauern foothills, where cloud and light can change quickly. Check the current conditions before you plan a walk or drive into the valley.
Flattach sits at the western end of the Mölltal, one of the main valleys leading into the Hohe Tauern range in southern Austria. The village is known as a base for hiking, cycling and access to the high alpine country around Mallnitz and the Ankogel massif. The landscape combines wooded slopes, meadows and steep rock walls, and the river runs along the valley floor. Its quiet, rural character is a big part of its appeal.
The camera is listed as a mountain view facing west, so the image is most likely to show ridges, forest, pastures and the sky over the valley. Light is best in the early morning and late afternoon, when shadows bring out the relief of the slopes. Cloud build-up over the peaks is common in summer afternoons, so the view can change within an hour. Winter brings snow to the higher ground and clear, crisp days are possible.
The Carinthian Alps have a continental-influenced alpine climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters at altitude. Summer, from June to September, is generally the best time for hiking and seeing the high country. Nearby, the Gorges de la Ragga waterfall and the Grafenberg viewpoint are both within a few kilometres and suit a short day trip from the village. Plan for mountain weather changes and bring layers.
