Adlersruhe - Vue vers l'ouest sur le Großglockner
🇦🇹 Carinthia · Austria — Altitude 3454 m
This camera looks west across the high Alps towards the Großglockner, Austria's highest mountain. The live feed lets you check the summit and the surrounding peaks from the comfort of your screen before you plan a trip or simply enjoy the scenery. The page also shows the local time and conditions at the camera's altitude.
Adlersruhe sits at roughly 3,450 metres in the Carinthian part of the Hohe Tauern range, close to the Glocknerstraße, one of the best-known alpine roads in the country. The Großglockner rises to over 3,700 metres and is the dominant feature of the landscape, with glaciers, steep rock faces and deep valleys below. The area is known as a base for mountaineering, glacier walks and scenic drives through the national park.
The view is most striking in clear morning and evening light, when the summit and ridges are sharply lit and shadows define the relief. Cloud often builds over the peaks during the afternoon, so the mountain can disappear and reappear within a short time. Changes in snow cover between seasons are also easy to follow, and the live player shows conditions as they are now.
The summer months from June to September generally offer the most reliable access to the high road and trails, while winter brings heavy snow and limited services. Weather at this altitude can change quickly and temperatures are low even in summer, so layers and sturdy footwear are advisable. Nearby cameras on the Glockner road show the same massif from other angles.
Because the camera is set high, it often sits above low cloud that covers the valleys below. Wind speeds and temperatures here differ noticeably from those in towns in the lower valleys, so the local forecast on this page is worth checking before you set out.
