Kals — view to the west

Kals - Vue vers l'ouest

🇦🇹 Tyrol · Austria — Altitude 1400 m

Local time UTC+1Checked 0 viewsHDMountains

This live camera looks west over Kals, a village in the East Tyrol mountains at about 1,400 metres. It is a practical window onto the valley's weather and light, useful before a hike or a drive up the Großglockner area.

About Kals

Kals lies in the Kalser Tal, a side valley of East Tyrol, Austria, close to the Hohe Tauern National Park. The village is known as a gateway to the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria, and to its alpine meadows and waterfalls. The valley is quiet and rural, with farms, larches and steep forested slopes rising on either side.

What you can watch

The view is aimed westward, so the camera is most useful in the afternoon and early evening, when the sun sits in that direction and light falls across the slopes. Cloud build-up over the peaks often shows in the hours after midday in summer. Depending on the view, you may see changing cloud cover, snow lines and the colour of the meadows through the seasons.

Practical notes

Summer is the main season for walking and cycling, while winter brings cross-country skiing and ski touring. Conditions at this altitude can change quickly, so check the live view and weather before setting out. Nearby cameras on this site include views to the north-east, a view of the Großglockner from Lucknerhaus, and the Glocknerwinkel panorama.
