This live camera looks out over Nassau Bay, a small community on the shore of Clear Lake, just southeast of Houston. It is a useful window onto the Gulf Coast climate and the everyday pace of a bay-side town. Use it to check conditions before heading out or to see how the water looks from afar.
Nassau Bay sits on the western edge of Clear Lake, a shallow bay of Galveston Bay, and is closely tied to the nearby Johnson Space Center, which lies a short drive to the north. The area is flat, low-lying and shaped by water, with marshes, boat docks and wide skies typical of the Texas coast. It is a quiet residential setting that feels very different from the downtown skyline of Houston.
Because the camera is set on a waterside view, the most rewarding times are usually early morning, when the lake is calm and the light is soft, and late afternoon, when the sun sits low over the water. Weather changes are often easy to follow here, from fast-moving summer storms to the flat grey days of winter. Depending on the view, you may also notice boats moving along the shore.
The Gulf Coast climate brings hot, humid summers and mild winters, with spring and autumn usually the most comfortable seasons for being outdoors. Afternoon thunderstorms are common from late spring into summer. Nearby on VizCams you can open other Houston views, including the East Side skyline, and the Moody Gardens Pyramid camera in Galveston, about 38 km away.
