Reno - Skyline Cam
πΊπΈ Nevada Β· United States β Altitude 1379 m
This live camera looks out over the Reno skyline in northern Nevada, giving a current view of the city at high definition. It is useful for checking how the city and the surrounding hills look right now before you travel, or simply for seeing what the sky is doing above the Sierra foothills.
Reno sits in the high desert of northwestern Nevada, at about 1,379 metres above sea level, with the Sierra Nevada rising to the west. The city is known as the Biggest Little City in the World, a nickname tied to its long history of gaming, and it has grown into a base for outdoor recreation, from lakes and mountain trails to the nearby Lake Tahoe region. Its setting between desert basin and mountain ridges gives the skyline an open, wide backdrop.
The view is of the city skyline, so the most interesting moments are usually early morning, when the air is clear and the light falls across the hills, and late afternoon, when the low sun brings out the buildings and ridgelines. Weather changes quickly in this region, so clouds, wind and snow on the peaks can alter the scene from one hour to the next. Because the stream is live, you can check conditions at the moment rather than relying on a general forecast.
Reno has a dry, high-desert climate with hot summers, cold winters and relatively little rain, though snow can fall in winter and spring. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for walking and driving to nearby areas. Nearby cameras on VizCams include views in Reno, around the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and in neighbouring Sparks, as well as Truckee, about 37 km away, for a wider look at the region.
