Whitefish Mountain - Sommet
🇺🇸 Montana · United States — Altitude 2065 m
This camera looks out from the summit of Whitefish Mountain, a peak of about 2,065 metres above the town of Whitefish in northwestern Montana. It is useful for checking conditions on the mountain before heading up, or simply for seeing how the Flathead Valley looks today.
Whitefish Mountain rises above the town of Whitefish, close to the western edge of Glacier National Park. The region sits in the northern Rockies, where forested slopes, lakes and wide valleys meet. The mountain is best known as a ski area, and its high position gives it a strong sense of open sky and distance. Whether the summit is clear or wrapped in cloud depends largely on the weather moving through the valley that day.
The summit view changes with the light and the season. Mornings often bring clear air and sharp views across the valley, while afternoons can build cloud over the peaks. In winter the slopes may look white and busy with skiers, and in summer the mountain tends to look green and open. Because the camera shows a live view, you can judge conditions as they are rather than relying on a forecast alone.
Winters are cold and snowy, and summers are warm with cooler nights at altitude. Spring and autumn can be changeable, so check the weather block on this page before you set out. The ski resort, the lodge at Whitefish Lake and the bank in town are all within a short drive of each other, and the Osprey Pole camera in Evergreen is a little further away if you want another view of the area.
