This live camera looks out over Coachella, a desert city in the Coachella Valley of southern California. Use it to check conditions in the valley before you travel or simply to see how the desert light changes through the day.
Coachella sits in the Coachella Valley, a broad desert basin in Riverside County, roughly 100 kilometres east of Los Angeles. The valley floor lies slightly below sea level, and the surrounding mountains shape the wind and the light. The area is best known for its agriculture, especially date palms and table grapes, and for the large music festival that bears its name and draws visitors every spring.
Depending on the view, you may see open desert, farmland, roads and the distant ridges that frame the valley. Early morning and late afternoon are usually the most pleasant times to watch, when the low sun brings out the colours of the hills. Clear skies are common, so the view is often sharp, while summer haze can soften the mountains.
Summers are very hot, often above 40 °C, so the best time to visit is from October to April when days are warm and dry. Indio, Palm Springs and El Paseo are all within a short drive, and the nearby cameras on this site let you compare conditions across the valley. Plan for sun and water whatever the season.
