Wielka krokiew w zakopanem
🇵🇱 Lesser Poland · Poland — Altitude 897 m
This live camera looks at the Wielka Krokiew, the large ski jump on the edge of Zakopane, the winter sports town at the foot of the High Tatras. It is a useful way to check how the slopes and the town look before you travel, or simply to watch the mountain weather roll in.
Zakopane sits in southern Poland at roughly 900 metres above sea level, surrounded by the Tatra and Gorce mountains. The Wielka Krokiew is one of the best known ski jumps in Europe and has hosted major international competitions, including World Cup ski jumping events. The town is also known for its wooden architecture, mountain culture and the traditional Podhale style of music and dress.
The view centres on the jump and the surrounding hillside, so changes in snow cover, cloud and fog are often the most visible things on screen. Winter brings the most activity around the jump when competitions and training take place, while summer shows green slopes and the moving clouds that often gather over the peaks in the afternoon. Mornings in clear weather tend to offer the sharpest outlines of the mountains behind the town.
Zakopane has a cold, snowy winter and a mild, showery summer, and temperatures can drop quickly at altitude, so pack layers in any season. Winter is best for skiing and winter sports, while summer and early autumn suit hiking and cable car trips into the mountains. The town centre, the famous Krupowki street and several other cameras on this site are a short distance from the jump.
