Braunschweiger Hütte - Vue sur le Mittelbergferner et sur la Wildspitze
🇦🇹 Tyrol · Austria — Altitude 2759 m
This camera looks out from the Braunschweiger Hütte, a mountain hut high in the Ötztal Alps of Tyrol. The stream frames the Mittelbergferner glacier and the summit of Wildspitze, one of the best-known peaks in Austria. It is a useful way to judge snow and cloud conditions in the high mountains before planning a hike.
The hut stands at around 2759 metres in the Ötztal Alps, close to the ski resort of Sölden in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The Ötztal is one of the largest Alpine valleys in the country and is known for its glaciers, high pastures and long hiking routes. Wildspitze rises to more than 3700 metres and is the highest peak in the Ötztal range, so the view is dominated by ice, rock and wide alpine skies.
Because the camera is pointed at high glaciated terrain, the most interesting moments are usually early morning, when the peaks catch the first light, and late afternoon, when the shadows lengthen across the ice. Clear days show the glacier in detail, while passing clouds can change the scene within minutes. Seasonal snow cover also shifts noticeably between early and late summer.
Summer is the main season for hut visits, with milder days and good access on marked trails, though weather at this altitude can change quickly. Winter brings heavy snowfall and the area is then popular for skiing around Sölden. Other cameras in the same area, including Sölden Schwarze Schneid and Rettenbachferner, are a short distance away and show nearby slopes from different angles.
