Mölltaler Gletscher - Arrivée du téléski Alteck - vue vers le nord-est
🇦🇹 Carinthia · Austria — Altitude 2821 m
This camera looks out from the arrival point of the Alteck lift on the Mölltaler Glacier, a high alpine ski area in Carinthia. It is useful for judging snow conditions and how busy the slopes are before you travel. The live player is paired with local weather and time so you can plan the day from one page.
The Mölltaler Gletscher sits in the Hohe Tauern range of the Austrian Alps, in the Carinthian part of the country. It is one of the higher ski areas in the region, and its terrain reaches well above the treeline into open, rocky and snowy ground. The surroundings are typical of the central Alps: steep ridges, glacier fields and wide high valleys. Summer skiing on the upper slopes is one reason many visitors come here outside the winter season.
The view is set at a lift arrival station, so the most useful thing to watch is the flow of skiers and the condition of the snow around the station. Morning light usually makes the snow easier to read, while afternoon cloud can flatten the contrast on the slopes. Clear, cold days tend to be the most rewarding to watch. Because the frame is aimed northeast, the light and shadows change noticeably through the day.
Conditions at this altitude can change quickly, with strong wind, low cloud and sharp temperature drops even when the valley looks mild. Check the weather block on this page before heading up, and dress for cold and exposure. The area is usually at its busiest in the main winter season and during spring skiing. Nearby cameras on the same glacier, including the Eissee cable car and the Klühspies Panorama railway, can help you compare conditions across the area.
