This live camera looks out over West Scott Cameron Beach in Bridgehampton, on the South Fork of Long Island. It is a good way to judge sea and sky conditions before you head to the Hamptons' south shore. The page also shows local time and a short weather outlook for the area.
Bridgehampton is a village in the town of Southampton, on the southern side of the eastern tip of Long Island, facing the Atlantic Ocean. The Hamptons are known for wide sandy beaches, dune grass, farm stands and a relaxed summer atmosphere. The South Fork coast is shaped by open surf and shifting sandbars, so the water can look very different from one day to the next.
The view is titled after the beach, so it is a useful window on surf, tide and how crowded the sand is at a given hour. Late morning and afternoon usually give the clearest light and the most activity in summer. Early mornings can show calm water and long shadows, while autumn and winter views tend to be quieter, with rougher surf and fewer people on the sand.
Summers are warm and humid, while spring and early autumn are often the most pleasant times for walking and cycling. Winter can be cold and windy on the exposed shore. Nearby cameras on this site include Southampton's Coopers Beach about 6 km away, East Hampton's Main Beach around 14 km away, and Hampton Bays' Ponquogue and Tiana beaches a little further west.
