This camera looks out over the beach at Quogue, a quiet village on the south shore of Long Island, New York. It is useful for checking surf and sky before a trip to the coast or simply for a calm view of the Atlantic. The live player, local time and forecast are all on this page.
Quogue is a small village in the Town of Southampton, facing the Atlantic across a long barrier beach. The area is known for wide sand, dune grass and a slower pace than the busier Hamptons villages to the east. Much of the shore is protected, and the village is mostly residential, with weathered shingle houses set back from the dunes. Inlets and salt marshes sit behind the beach, which gives the coastline a varied, quietly natural character.
The view is of the beach itself, so the main things to follow are the waves, the tide line and how the sea looks under different skies. Mornings often bring calmer water and softer light, while afternoons in summer tend to be busier with swimmers and boats near the shore. Stormy weather and onshore winds make the surf more visible from the camera. Depending on the framing, you may also see dune vegetation and the horizon on clear days.
Quogue has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold winters, moderated somewhat by the ocean. The best time to visit for swimming is from June to September, while spring and autumn suit walks and quieter beach days. The village lies about 80 miles east of New York City. For other coastal views nearby, the cameras at Hampton Bays Tiana Beach and Ponquogue Beach are a short drive away.
