This live stream overlooks part of the International Wolf Center in Ely, a small town on the edge of the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. It is a good way to see what the grounds look like right now before planning a visit. The stream is provided by its owner and embedded here with a link to the source.
Ely sits in the Superior National Forest, surrounded by lakes, conifer forest and wetlands that stretch toward the Canadian border. It is the traditional gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and has long been a base for canoeists, anglers and outdoor guides. The International Wolf Center is devoted to the biology and conservation of wolves, with exhibits that explain how these animals live and why they matter to the ecosystem of the North Woods.
The camera points at the south side of the center, so the view depends on the season and the weather, and it is not always busy. Visitors are more likely to appear around opening hours, especially in summer, when the town is most active. Autumn colours in September and October can make the surrounding trees especially striking, and winter brings snow that changes the scene completely. Check the weather block on this page before you expect clear views.
Northern Minnesota has warm, often humid summers and long, cold winters with heavy snow, so late spring through early autumn is the most comfortable time to visit. Ely is reached by road, and most travellers arrive by car. Nearby on VizCams you can compare conditions in Biwabik, the Silver Bay marina and Tofte on the North Shore of Lake Superior, all within roughly an hour and a half of drive time.
