This live view looks out over the beach at Beaver Bay, a small village on the North Shore of Lake Superior. It is useful for checking how the lake looks before a trip or simply for watching the water change through the day.
Beaver Bay sits on the rocky north shore of Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota, the largest freshwater lake by surface area in the world. The town is small and quiet, shaped by fishing history, cold clear water and dramatic basalt cliffs. The surrounding forest of birch, pine and maple changes colour strongly in autumn, and the lake itself can shift between calm glassy mornings and rough waves with little warning.
The beach view is most interesting in the early morning and at sunset, when light moves across the water and the shoreline stones show their colour. Weather matters a great deal here: fog, wind and waves can change the scene quickly, and in winter the shore can be covered with ice. Check the live stream and the local weather block on this page before deciding when to go.
Summers are mild and pleasant, with cool nights, while winters are long and cold with heavy snow. The best time to visit is generally late June through September. Silver Bay, with its marina, is a short drive away, and Two Harbors and the Split Rock Lighthouse are a little further along the shore. Cameras for these places are listed below the player.
