This live camera looks out over the Chattahoochee area in the Atlanta region of Georgia. It is useful if you want to check conditions on the river before heading out, or simply see how the area looks right now. The stream is provided by the Atlanta Rowing Club Boathouse and embedded here with a link back to the owner.
Chattahoochee is a community on the western edge of Atlanta, close to the river that gives the area its name. The Chattahoochee River forms part of the boundary of the Atlanta metropolitan area and is known for its wooded banks, rapids and recreational use. The landscape is gently rolling, with pine and hardwood forest, and the setting feels quite different from the city centre just a few kilometres east.
The view is tied to the river and its boathouse, so the most interesting moments are usually early morning, when water is calm, and late afternoon, when light is warm. Conditions on the water change with rain upstream and with the flow of the river, so the picture can look quite different from one visit to the next. Check the live player for the current view rather than relying on a fixed image.
Georgia has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable times to be on or near the river. Nearby cameras include Sandy Springs and the Atlanta Skyline view, which give a wider picture of the surrounding area and the city.
