This live camera looks toward Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, from the Hiawassee area in the northern mountains. It is a practical way to check how the summit and the ridges below it look before you drive up or plan a day outdoors.
Brasstown Bald rises to about 1,458 metres in the Blue Ridge range of north Georgia, inside the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. Hiawassee is a small lakeside town nearby, known as a base for hiking, cabins and quiet mountain scenery. The landscape is forested ridges, with the summit often standing above the cloud line on certain days.
The camera is aimed at the mountain from the south, so the view depends on distance, haze and cloud cover at the time you watch. On clear mornings the ridges can stand out sharply, while in the afternoon building clouds often wrap around the peak. Seasonal changes matter a lot: autumn colours are a popular reason to check the view, and winter can bring snow to the upper slopes.
Summers in the area are warm and humid, with frequent afternoon storms, while winters are cold and can be icy at higher elevations. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for a visit. The summit has a visitor centre and an observation tower, and the road up can close in bad weather, so check conditions before you travel. The northern Brasstown camera and the Lake Chatuge view are both within a short distance.
