This live camera looks out over Sedona, the town set among the red sandstone buttes of north-central Arizona. Watch the stream to see how the rock colours change through the day and to get a sense of the sky above the town before you plan a visit.
Sedona sits at roughly 1,300 metres in a valley ringed by towering sandstone formations that glow orange and deep red, especially in the low sun. The town is known as an outdoor base for hiking, mountain biking and scenic drives, and its galleries and resorts draw visitors from across the country. The surrounding Coconino National Forest and the Verde Valley add pine forest and open desert to the scenery.
The camera is most rewarding around sunrise and sunset, when the rock faces shift from pale gold to deep crimson and shadows lengthen across the valley. Clear mornings give the sharpest view of the formations, while afternoon clouds in summer can build quickly over the high country and add drama to the sky. Check the live weather on this page before you watch, since conditions can change within an hour.
Sedona has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and mild winters, and spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for walking the trails. Because the town is higher than the desert floor, nights can be cool even in warm months. Nearby VizCams pages include the Red Rock view about 3 km away, the Seven Arches camera about 9 km away and the Munds Park camera about 13 km away.
