🇨🇭 Valais · Switzerland — Altitude 2158 m
This live camera looks out over La Fouly, a small alpine village at about 2,158 metres in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is a useful window for anyone planning a walk or drive into the high valleys, or simply curious how the mountain weather is changing right now. The live player below is provided by the stream owner, with a link to the original source.
La Fouly sits at the upper end of the Val Ferret, the valley that runs from Orsières toward the Italian border near the Mont Blanc massif. It is a quiet place of wooden chalets, meadows and glacier-fed streams, known mainly as a base for hikers and mountaineers on the Tour du Mont Blanc. The surrounding peaks and high pastures give the village its character, and the air is noticeably cooler than in the lowland towns of the canton.
The camera is most rewarding in the early morning, when light often catches the upper ridges before the valley floor, and in the late afternoon, when shadows lengthen across the slopes. Cloud build-up over the peaks is common in summer afternoons, so the view can change quickly. Depending on the framing, you may see alpine meadows, the road and the mountainside. Snow cover is an important detail to check in winter and spring.
Summer, from June to September, is the most popular season for walking, with clear days most likely in the morning. Winter brings snow and cross-country skiing, although access roads can be affected by weather, so check conditions before travelling. The village is well placed for other cameras in the area, including Liddes - La Vuardette, Champex and Champex - La Breya, which show neighbouring slopes and lake views.
