🇨🇭 Valais · Switzerland — Altitude 2220 m
This live camera looks out over the Kühboden area of Fiescheralp, a ski and summer hiking station rising above the village of Fiesch at about 2,220 metres. Check it to see mountain conditions and cloud cover before heading up the cable car.
Fiesch sits in the upper Rhone valley of the Swiss canton of Valais, where the Aletsch region of glaciers and peaks begins. The Fiescheralp rises above it onto open alpine pastures and ridges, and it is part of the wider Aletsch Arena ski area. The surrounding landscape is shaped by glaciers, larch forest and high meadows typical of the central Alps.
As a mountain view, the camera's picture is mainly about sky, cloud and snow conditions on the slopes and ridges. Depending on the view, you may see clear mornings, afternoon cloud building over the peaks, or fresh snow after a storm. Winter and early spring are usually the most rewarding times to watch, while summer shows green pastures and hiking weather.
The Valais is generally sunny and dry compared with the northern Alps, and the best time to visit the Fiescheralp is from June to October for hiking or from December to March for skiing. Cable cars link the village with the mountain station. Nearby cameras on the Eggishorn and at Bettmeralp show neighbouring summits and may help you compare conditions across the Aletsch area.
