About the Rigi massif
The Rigi stands alone between Lake Lucerne and Lake Zug, which is why it has long been called the Queen of the Mountains. Its isolated position gives a wide panorama over the Swiss Plateau, the Alps and several lakes. The mountain has been a destination for travellers since the 19th century, and its slopes are a mix of meadows, forest and rocky outcrops typical of central Switzerland.
