Emmetten - Stockhütte-Bergstation Nord
🇨🇭 Nidwalden · Switzerland
This camera looks out from the northern side of the Stockhütte mountain station above Emmetten in central Switzerland. It is useful for seeing how the slopes and sky look before you travel up, or for following conditions over the Lake Lucerne region. The live player below updates while the stream is online.
Emmetten is a small village on the western shore of Lake Lucerne in the canton of Nidwalden, set between the lake and steep limestone mountains. The Stockhütte area is known for hiking, cable car rides and wide views over the Alps and the lake. The village is quiet compared with the big Swiss resorts, and its landscape changes sharply from lakeside meadows to rocky ridges within a short climb.
Because the camera is mounted at a mountain station, the picture depends on altitude, cloud level and visibility more than on any fixed landmark. Mornings often bring clear air and sharp light on the peaks, while afternoon cloud can build quickly in summer. Winter views can be dramatic when snow lies on the slopes, and the view may be partly hidden in fog. Check the weather block on this page before expecting a clear picture.
Summers are mild and winters are cold with regular snow at this elevation, so the best months for walking are usually June to September. Getting up to the station generally involves local cable cars or footpaths from the village. Nearby on VizCams you can compare views from Emmetten Stockhütte south, the Klewenalp station and Fronalpstock in Stoos to see how conditions differ across the area.
