This live camera looks out over the mountains above Lenk, a village in the Simmental valley of the Bernese Oberland. It is useful for checking the mountain conditions before you plan a walk, a ride or a drive up the valley. The page also shows local time and the weather for Lenk.
Lenk sits at the head of the Simmental, a broad green valley that runs south-west from the Bernese Alps. Betelberg rises above the village at close to two thousand metres and is known for its high pastures, summer hiking and in winter its ski runs. The surroundings are typical Alpine scenery: meadows, larch and spruce forest, and rocky peaks that catch the light in the afternoon.
The camera is aimed at the mountain landscape rather than at village streets, so the view mostly changes with the weather, the light and the season. Clear mornings often bring crisp views of the peaks, while afternoon cloud can build quickly over the ridges in summer. In winter, fresh snow makes the slopes easy to read at a glance. The stream is provided by its owner and is embedded here with a link to the source.
Lenk is reachable by road up the Simmental from Thun, and by regional train and bus. Summer is the season for walking and mountain air, while winter brings skiing and snowshoe routes. Mornings tend to be the most settled time of day in the mountains. Nearby cameras on this site include Lenk im Simmental Mülkerblatten, Metschstand, and views from Lauenen and Anzère, which are useful for comparing conditions across the region.
