This live stream looks out over the beach at Santa Ponsa, a resort bay on the southwest coast of Mallorca. It is useful if you want to judge the sea and sky before heading down to the sand, or simply to see how the Balearic coast looks right now. The live player is joined below by current conditions and a short forecast.
Santa Ponsa sits on the CalviΓ coastline, a short drive west of Palma. The bay is sheltered and sandy, backed by hotels, promenades and restaurants, which makes it one of the busier family beaches on the island. Behind the shore the land rises into low pine-covered hills, and the Tramuntana mountains lie further north along the island. The resort has grown up around the bay, so the atmosphere is lively in summer and much quieter in winter.
The camera is listed as a beach view, so expect to watch the shoreline, the water and the people using the sand. Depending on the angle, you may also see boats moored near the bay. The view is most lively from late morning to late afternoon in the warmer months, when the beach is busiest. Early mornings often give calmer water and clearer horizons, which makes them a good time to check conditions before a swim.
Mallorca has mild winters and long, dry, sunny summers, and the sea is usually warmest in August and September. Spring and autumn are comfortable for walking and cycling. Palma airport is about a half-hour drive away, and the resort is served by local buses. Nearby cameras in Paguera, Cala Fornells and El Toro β Port Adriano show other stretches of this coast, so you can compare conditions along the bay.
