Narvik - Narvikfjellet, station de ski et télécabine Narvik Gondol
🇳🇴 Nordland · Norway — Altitude 150 m
This live stream looks over the Narvikfjellet ski area and the Narvik Gondol cable car, the lift that carries visitors up the mountain above the town. It is useful for checking whether the slopes and lift are running before you travel, or for watching winter conditions in northern Norway from afar.
Narvik is a port town in Nordland county, in the far north of Norway, set on the shores of the Ofotfjord with mountains rising steeply behind it. It is best known as a rail and shipping hub on the Ofoten line and as a base for winter and northern outdoor activities. Narvikfjellet rises just above the town, so the slopes sit close to the fjord and the urban area below.
The camera is focused on the ski area and the cable car, so the view is mainly about the slopes, the lift and the snow cover. Conditions change quickly in the Arctic, so the view can shift from clear and bright to foggy or snowy within a short time. Mornings and early afternoons are often the best times to see the terrain in daylight, especially in the darker winter months.
Narvik has a mild coastal climate for its latitude, thanks to the Gulf Stream, but winters are long, cold and snowy, and daylight is very limited in midwinter. Summers are cool and light lasts for many hours. The town is reachable by train, road and air via its regional airport. Nearby cameras cover Riksgransen, Bjorkliden and the Fjelldal area for a wider view of northern Norway.
