This live camera looks out over Oppdal, a mountain municipality in the Innlandet region of central Norway. Tune in to check how the valley looks right now and whether the snow, cloud or light is changing. The page also shows local time and the weather for the area.
Oppdal sits at about 700 metres above sea level in the Dovre mountains, where the Driva river runs through a broad valley. It is best known as a base for skiing and hiking in the surrounding fells, and as a stop on routes between Trondheim and the Dovre region. The landscape is open and birch-dotted, with long views toward the high ridges and a strong sense of the Norwegian interior.
The camera is a YouTube live stream from Oppdal Ski, so the view depends on the source's own setup. Mountain valleys like this one often show changing cloud on the slopes, fresh snow in winter and bright, low sun in spring. Early morning and late afternoon tend to bring the most dramatic light, while the stream is most useful in winter when you want to judge snow conditions.
Winters are cold and long, with reliable snow from around November to April, while summers are mild and often sunny, with cool nights. The best time for hiking is July to September, and for skiing February to April. Oppdal is reached by road and rail from Trondheim, and nearby cameras in Tynset and Kyrksæterøra show other parts of the region.
