This live camera looks out over Sirdal, a valley in the Agder region of southern Norway, at about 600 metres above sea level. It is a good way to check mountain conditions and weather before deciding whether to drive up. The player is embedded from the source, Sirdal Ski.
Sirdal is a long, sparsely populated valley in western Agder, running up towards the high plateau of southern Norway. It is shaped by rivers, lakes and bare rock, with birch and pine on the lower slopes. The area is best known as a winter destination for skiing and as a base for hiking and fishing in summer. Its quiet, open landscape is typical of inland Norway away from the coast.
The view changes a great deal with the season and the weather. In winter, snow cover and visibility show whether the slopes are open and how deep the snow is. In summer and autumn, you may see clouds moving over the hills and changing light on the valley floor. Early morning and late afternoon are often the most interesting times, when low sun brings out the relief of the terrain. Depending on the view, fog or low cloud can settle quickly, so the live weather block is worth a glance too.
Sirdal has a cold, often wet climate, with snowy winters and cool summers compared with the Norwegian coast. Winter is the main season for visitors who come for snow sports, while June to August offers the most reliable access for walking and fishing. Roads can be affected by snow and ice from autumn into spring, so check conditions before travelling. Nearby places include Jorpeland, Sandnes and Stavanger, and the other cameras in the region are listed on this page.
