This live camera looks out over the port area of Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific coast of Jalisco. It is useful for anyone wanting to see the water, the boats and the sky before heading out, or simply to watch the Bay of Banderas from a distance. The stream is provided by its owner and embedded here with a link back to the source.
Puerto Vallarta sits on the curve of the Bay of Banderas, where the Sierra Madre mountains meet the Pacific. The town grew from a fishing village into one of Mexico's best-known resort destinations, yet its old centre still has cobbled streets, churches and a relaxed harbour atmosphere. The surrounding hills are green for much of the year, and the coastline changes quickly between sandy beaches and rocky headlands.
The camera is listed in the port category, so the most interesting moments are usually when boats are moving in and out or when the light changes at sunrise and sunset. Because the picture is live, you can judge sea conditions and cloud cover yourself. Mornings tend to be calmer on the water, while afternoons often bring more wind and cloud building over the mountains.
The weather is warm throughout the year. The drier season from roughly November to May is the most popular time to visit, while the wetter months from June to October bring heavy but often short afternoon showers. The camera sits close to the centre, and nearby cameras include Sayulita beach, about 32 km north, and Puerto Vallarta itself, about 6 km away.
