Les Arcs - Vagère
🇫🇷 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes · France — Altitude 1726 m
This camera looks out from the Vagère area of Les Arcs, a ski resort in the Savoie part of the French Alps. It is a good way to check snow and sky conditions before deciding whether to travel up the mountain. The live stream runs on the source's own channel and is embedded here with a link back to them.
Les Arcs sits in the Tarentaise valley, close to Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the Vanoise National Park. It is one of the larger linked ski areas in France, developed in the 1960s and built in stepped villages rising above the valley floor. The surrounding landscape is steep rock, alpine meadows and high bowls that hold snow for much of the winter, giving the place a strong sense of altitude and open space.
Because the camera is set at a mountain station, the view changes with cloud, snowfall and light. In winter, watch for fresh snow lines and how quickly cloud rolls over the ridges. In summer, the slopes turn green and bare rock stands out. Early morning often brings the clearest air, while afternoon clouds can build quickly over the peaks and hide the view.
The Alps here have cold winters with reliable snow from December into April and mild, sunny summers suited to hiking. Expect temperatures well below those of the valley towns at this altitude, even in July. Nearby cameras cover Les Arcs 2000, Varet, La Rosière 1850 and La Plagne Bergerie, so you can compare conditions across the linked resorts.
