This live stream looks out over Tasiilaq, the largest settlement on Greenland's east coast. It is a useful way to see how the town and its fjord setting look right now, before deciding whether a trip there is realistic. The page also shows local time and the current forecast.
Tasiilaq sits on Ammassalik Island in East Greenland, on the shore of a sheltered fjord surrounded by steep mountains and drifting sea ice. It is the main town of the Sermersooq municipality and has long been a centre for the local Inuit culture, with traditional hunting, kayaking and carving still part of daily life. The landscape is raw and dramatic, with glaciers, icebergs and open tundra close to the houses.
The title names only the town, so this page cannot promise any particular building or view in frame. Depending on the angle, you may see the harbour, colourful houses, the fjord and the surrounding peaks. Conditions change quickly here: clear skies can give sharp light on the mountains, while fog or snow can hide them within minutes. Midsummer brings long daylight, and winter darkness changes the scene entirely.
Tasiilaq has a cold subarctic climate, with short, cool summers and long, cold winters. The most comfortable months for visiting are July and August, when the sea ice has usually cleared, though weather can still be changeable. Access is mainly by helicopter or small aircraft, and by boat in summer. Kulusuk, about 23 km away, is the nearby airport village and a second camera location on this site.
