This live stream looks over the ski school area at La Parva, one of the closest ski resorts to Santiago. It is useful for seeing snow cover, visibility and how busy the slopes are before you travel. The player is embedded from the resort's own channel, with the local time and weather shown below.
La Parva sits in the Andes about 50 kilometres east of Santiago, at roughly 2,900 metres above sea level. It is part of a shared ski area with neighbouring resorts and is known for its wide, well-groomed runs, lively atmosphere and easy access from the capital. The surrounding peaks are bare rock and snow for much of the year, which gives the resort a strong high-mountain character.
The ski school camera is most useful in the morning, when fresh snow and first tracks are easiest to judge from the image. Watch for clear skies, which usually mean better visibility on the upper runs, and for wind, which can close lifts. Snow conditions change quickly in winter, so a short check before leaving Santiago can save a wasted trip. The picture is streamed by the resort and its quality depends on the broadcast.
The main ski season runs from June to September, with the deepest snow usually in July and August. Mornings are cold even in the sunniest weeks, so dress in layers. The drive from Santiago takes roughly an hour and a half in good conditions, but chains may be required in snowy weather. Nearby cameras on the Cima Tórtolas, Manzanito and Parva Chica sectors give a wider picture of the mountain.
