This live stream looks out over Ischgl, the Alpine village in the Paznaun valley of Tyrol. Watch it to get a sense of the mountain conditions and the weather above this high-altitude resort before you travel or head out.
Ischgl sits at roughly 1,400 metres in the Paznaun valley, close to the Austrian border with Switzerland. It is one of the best-known ski resorts in the Alps, surrounded by steep peaks, wide snow fields in winter and green pastures in summer. The village is compact, with traditional timber and stone houses set against the high ridges that rise around it.
The camera is positioned on a mountain setting, so the picture is shaped mostly by the sky, cloud movement and changing light on the slopes. Mornings often bring clear views before clouds build over the peaks in the afternoon. In winter, fresh snow and sunshine make the slopes most readable, while summer views tend to show green meadows and hiking terrain.
Ischgl is busiest during the winter ski season and in early summer for hiking. Winters are cold, with reliable snow from December to April, while summers are mild and pleasant at altitude. Nearby cameras on the Pardatschgrat, Idalp and Greitspitze show other points of the area, useful for judging conditions higher up the mountains.
