Grimming - Aigen im Ennstal
π¦πΉ Styria Β· Austria β Altitude 990 m
This live camera looks toward the Grimming, one of the most recognisable limestone peaks in the Styrian Ennstal region of Austria. It is a good way to see how the mountain looks right now, whether cloud is sitting on the summit and how the light is changing over the valley.
The Grimming rises steeply above the Enns valley near Aigen im Ennstal and Irdning, with a bare, rocky face that stands out from the forested slopes around it. The Ennstal runs through Styria between the Dachstein and the Schladming area, and it is known for its alpine villages, meadows and pastures. Altitude of the camera site is about 990 metres, so the valley floor and the upper mountain are often visibly different in weather.
The view is aimed at the mountain rather than the village, so the most useful thing to follow is the weather on the peak: clouds forming in the afternoon, fog lifting from the valley in the morning, or fresh snow on the upper rock in autumn and winter. Early morning and late afternoon usually give the warmest light on the limestone. Conditions can change quickly in the mountains, so a few minutes of watching often tells more than a single look.
The Ennstal has a continental-influenced alpine climate with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Late spring through early autumn is the usual season for hiking and walking in the surrounding area, while winter brings snow to the higher slopes. Nearby cameras cover the Irdning view toward the Grimming, the Planneralm and Seekaralm, and the Donnersbach valley, which give different angles on the same region.
