This live camera looks out over Okaloosa Island, a narrow barrier island on the Florida Panhandle between Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Use it to check conditions on the water and sky before you head to the sand, or simply to watch the Gulf change through the day.
Okaloosa Island sits just off Fort Walton Beach and forms part of a long string of sand islands that stretch along the Emerald Coast. It is known for its white quartz sand, clear green water and a relaxed, low-rise beach town feel. The landscape is flat and open, dunes and sea oats line the shore, and the Gulf stays a strong draw for visitors throughout the year.
Because the camera is a nature view, the most rewarding moments are usually early morning, when the water is often calmest, and late afternoon, when the light turns warm over the sand. Changes in cloud cover, wave height and the colour of the Gulf are the things worth noticing. Conditions can shift quickly with weather fronts, so check the live view before planning a visit.
The Panhandle has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Late spring through early autumn is the busiest season on the beaches, while spring and autumn are often more comfortable for walking. Nearby camera locations along the coast include Destin, the East Pass Jetties, Sandestin Beach and Front Gulf, which give a wider view of the same coastline.
