This live stream shows Tarpon Springs, a small coastal city on Florida's Gulf Coast just north of Clearwater. Use it to check the sky, the water and the pace of the town before you plan a trip or simply want to see the Gulf in real time.
Tarpon Springs sits on the Anclote River a short distance from the open Gulf of Mexico. It is best known for its Greek community, which grew around the sponge industry in the early twentieth century, and for the boats and waterfront that still define its character. The landscape is low, flat and green, with marshes, pine and palm, and the coast is shaped by tides and sandbars rather than cliffs.
The view is most rewarding in the morning and late afternoon, when light is softer and boat traffic on the water is easier to follow. Florida afternoons often bring build-up of cumulus clouds and short thunderstorms in summer, so changing skies are part of the picture. Depending on the angle of the view, you may see water, sky, boats or waterfront activity, and the live player shows conditions as they happen.
Winters are mild and dry, and spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons. Summers are hot and humid, with a rainy season that peaks in the afternoons. Nearby on the VizCams map are the Tarpon Springs Nature Preserve camera, the Achieva Osprey camera in Pinellas County, and cameras in Clearwater, including the Marine Aquarium.
