This live camera looks out over Key Largo, the largest of the Florida Keys and the northern gateway to the island chain. Watch the stream to get a sense of the water, sky and conditions here before you plan a day on the water or a drive south along the Overseas Highway.

About Key Largo

Key Largo sits on the Atlantic side of the Florida Keys, a chain of low coral and limestone islands reached by a single road. The island is best known as the start of the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, which protects one of the few living coral reefs in the continental United States. Its shoreline is a mix of mangrove edges, marinas and sheltered bays, and the atmosphere is relaxed and tied closely to the sea.

What the camera shows

The stream is labeled as a Key Largo view, so it is best used to check the general state of the water, cloud cover and light rather than to pick out specific buildings. Mornings are usually calm and clear, while afternoons often bring build-up of cumulus clouds and a brief shower. Late light in the evening can be pleasant for watching the sky change over the water.

Practical notes and nearby views

Key Largo has a warm, humid subtropical climate, with summer highs often in the upper 80s Fahrenheit and mild, dry winters that make it a popular season for visitors. Hurricane season runs from June to November, so check conditions before travelling. The nearby Dolphin Basin and Marina cameras, and the Islamorada views a short drive further south, show how the conditions change along the chain.
