🇺🇸 Colorado · United States — Altitude 2490 m
This live camera looks over Lionshead Village in Vail, one of the best-known ski resort villages in the Rocky Mountains. It is useful for checking how the village and mountain look right now before you head out. The page also shows local time and the weather outlook.
Vail sits in the Gore Range of central Colorado at roughly 2,490 metres above sea level, along the Interstate 70 corridor west of Denver. Lionshead is the village at the western end of the resort, known for its pedestrian plazas, shops, restaurants and gondola access to the mountain. The surrounding landscape is alpine, with conifer forests, steep slopes and high peaks that stay snow-capped for much of the year.
The view is most lively during the winter ski season, when skiers and snowboarders arrive in the village, and in the summer months when hikers and cyclists use the trails. Early morning and late afternoon often bring the best light on the peaks. Weather can change quickly in the mountains, so clouds, snowfall or rain may affect what you see. The stream is provided by the Town of Vail and shows the live view as it is.
Winter brings the heaviest snowfall and the busiest season, while summer is mild and green with warm afternoons and cool nights. Because of the altitude, pack layers and sun protection year-round. Nearby cameras on VizCams include Vail Village, a view over Vail and Interstate 70, and Nottingham Lake and Beach in Avon, about 12 km away.
