Crested Butte - Pied des pistes de la station (Base Cam)
πΊπΈ Colorado Β· United States β Altitude 2860 m
This camera looks at the base area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, where skiers gather before and after their runs. Watch it to get a sense of arrival traffic, lift activity and conditions at the bottom of the mountain before you head out.
Crested Butte is a former mining town in the Elk Mountains of western Colorado, at roughly 2,860 metres. It is known for its preserved historic core, its wide alpine bowls and a strong community of skiers and mountain bikers. The town sits at the edge of the ski area, so the base is a short walk from the historic streets.
The view is most useful on clear mornings, when lifts start turning and the first groups arrive. Snow and cloud can change the scene quickly at this altitude, so the picture often shows the day's conditions better than any forecast. Late afternoon, as the crowds thin, is a quieter time to observe the base.
Winter brings the most snow and the busiest slopes, usually from December into spring, while summer is the season for hiking and mountain biking. Days can be sunny and mild even when nights are cold, so layers help. Nearby cameras on this site show the Warming House at Refuge Paradise and Elk Avenue in town.
