Bryher - Hell Bay Live from Bryher one of the Scilly Isles
π¬π§ Isles of Scilly Β· United Kingdom β Altitude 14 m
This live stream looks out from Hell Bay on Bryher, the smallest of the inhabited Isles of Scilly off the Cornish coast. It is a useful way to check how the Atlantic swell and light are behaving before you plan a boat trip or a walk along the shore.
Bryher lies in the Western Approaches, roughly 45 kilometres from the mainland, and is one of five inhabited islands in the archipelago. The islands are known for their mild, frost-free winters, granite outcrops, white sand and turquoise shallows. Their small population and car-free roads give the place a slow, maritime character that differs strongly from the English mainland.
The feed is titled after Hell Bay, a wave-exposed stretch of coast on the western side of the island, so the view is most likely to be about open water, surf and sky rather than sheltered sand. Conditions change quickly here, and mornings and late afternoons often bring the clearest light. Stormy weather tends to make the coast most dramatic, so the stream can be interesting even when the sea looks grey.
The islands have a temperate maritime climate, with the warmest weather usually from late spring into early autumn. Access is by ferry or helicopter from Penzance, and inter-island boats connect the main islands. On Tresco, the nearby cameras cover the Abbey Garden and Ruin Beach Cafe, and the Flying Boat Restaurant camera is also in the area, which can help you judge conditions before you travel.
