Freshwater Bay - Classic Cottages
π¬π§ Isle of Wight Β· United Kingdom
This live camera looks out over Freshwater Bay, a sheltered stretch of coast on the western side of the Isle of Wight. It is useful for checking how the bay looks before a visit, or simply for watching the sea and sky from England's south coast.
Freshwater Bay sits in the Freshwater area at the western end of the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. It is known for its sandy and shingle beach, cliffs and the wider chalk landscape of the western Wight. The village behind the bay is a small resort with cafΓ©s and older cottages, and the island as a whole has a relaxed, seaside character that draws walkers and sailors.
The camera is listed under the beach category, so it is aimed at the seafront and water. Depending on the view, you may see tide movement, boats, walkers on the promenade or changing cloud over the Channel. Early mornings and late afternoons often have the softest light, and clear, windy days tend to show the most detail on the water.
The Isle of Wight has a mild maritime climate, so summers are generally pleasant and winters are wet and windy. Spring and early autumn are good for quieter visits. A ferry from Lymington or Portsmouth is the usual way to reach the island. Other cameras on the island include Colwell Bay and the Freshwater Bay Golf Club view, which can help you compare conditions along the coast.

The camera is on the western coast of the Isle of Wight, in the Freshwater area. The map on this page shows its position and the surrounding coastline.
Mornings and late afternoons usually give the best light, and calm, clear days show the bay most clearly. Check the weather block first, since low cloud or rain can reduce visibility.
