This live camera looks out over Glencoe, one of the most dramatic glens in the Scottish Highlands. Watch the stream to judge how the mountains and sky look right now, before deciding on a walk or drive through the valley.
Glencoe lies in the Highland council area, a deep valley carved by glaciers and framed by steep, bare mountain slopes. The glen is known for its volcanic geology, its waterfalls and its place in Scottish history, and it sits close to the shores of Loch Leven and the sea lochs to the west. The landscape changes quickly with the light and the cloud, which is a large part of its appeal.
Depending on the view, you may see the valley floor, the road, the slopes and the sky above the peaks. Scottish weather moves fast, so cloud can lift or roll in within minutes. Early mornings and late afternoons often bring the clearest low-angle light, while winter snow or autumn colour can change the scene completely. Check the live stream before you travel to see what conditions are like.
The Highlands have a cool, wet and windy maritime climate, with rain possible in any season. Late spring to early autumn is the most popular time to visit, though the glen is worth seeing in every month. Fort William, about 15 km away, is the nearest town with services, and the Nevis Range and the Corran ferry area are within easy reach. Nearby cameras on this site include Ballachulish and Corran.
