A lake village at altitude
Silvaplana sits at about 1,865 metres above sea level, between Lake Silvaplana and Lake Sils in the upper Engadine. The valley is known for its clear light, wide water surfaces and high alpine peaks, and the village is a long-standing base for hiking, cycling and windsurfing on the lake when the wind is right. The area also hosts the Engadine's well-known polo and sailing events in summer, so the lake is often busy with activity.
