Gruyères - Vue sur Gruyères
Fribourg, Switzerland — 4.8 km
🇨🇭 Fribourg · Switzerland — Altitude 863 m
This live camera looks out over Broc, a village in the Gruyère district of the canton of Fribourg, at about 860 metres above sea level. It is a good way to check conditions in the Pre-Alps before planning a walk, a drive or a visit to the surrounding valley.
Broc sits in the Veveyse and Gruyère foothills, where rolling pastures meet the first rises of the Pre-Alps. The village is best known as the home of the Cailler chocolate factory and of the Gruyère cheese tradition that shapes much of the region. The landscape is green and open, with farms, forest edges and views toward the higher peaks on clear days.
The camera is most rewarding in the early morning, when mist often lies in the valley, and in the late afternoon, when the light softens over the hills. Snow in winter and the bright greens of late spring change the scene noticeably. Cloud movement over the Pre-Alps is a good indicator of the weather that is coming in across the region.
The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cold, often snowy winters, so late spring to early autumn is the easiest time to explore on foot. Gruyères, a medieval hilltop town, is about 5 km away, and Bulle, the district capital, lies roughly 6 km off. Those planning a longer trip can also look at La Berra and Schwarzsee, which offer higher viewpoints.
