About Interlaken
Interlaken lies at about 565 metres above sea level, on a flat strip of land between two glacier-fed lakes. Its name means between the lakes, and it has long been a base for visitors heading into the Jungfrau region. The surrounding mountains rise steeply on both sides of the valley, and the town has a relaxed, outdoor feel, with cafés, shops and hotels set around its central streets and the Höhematte park.
